“Butch” Clifton Dies Saturday

Funeral services for Willis “Butch” Ervin Clifton were held Wednesday, March 29 from the Webster-Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. He died Saturday March 25 at his daughter’s home in Loveland, Colorado. The 2 p.m. services were conducted by the Rev. James Epperson of Murray.

Willis Ervin Clifton was born in Clarke County October 29, 1900. He was the son of Charles and Vinnie Ellis Clifton. He received his education in Clarke and Madison counties and was affiliated with the Christian Church. He was a farmer and construction worker and lived most of his life in Clarke County. He was united in marriage to Augusta L. Vaelschaw May 14, 1927 in Libertyville, Illinois. Five children were born to this union.

Surviving relatives include: daughter, Mrs. Donna Graham and husband, Henry of Loveland; daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Craig and husband, E. J. of Santa Clara, California; daughter, Mrs. Nancy Vickers and husband, Harley of Osceola; son, Dallas Clifton and wife, Bonnie of Osceola; Dennis Clifton and wife, Linda Sue of Osceola; brother, Clarence Clifton; sister, Marie Miller of Osceola; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Augusta, in 1954. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
