Charles Hadden,
Noblesville, IN, formerly of Des Moines, IA

Charles Edward Hadden, 86, passed peacefully Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Harbor Manor and Lodge in Noblesville, Indiana with several family members by his side.

Charlie was born March 8, 1931 to Thomas and Fern Hadden in Creston, Iowa. The family moved to Ottumwa and then Des Moines where Charlie graduated from East High School in 1949.

He met the love of his life, Lillian Jean Anderson, and they were married November 1950. He always said she was the best thing that happened to him. They were blessed with four loving children: Donna, Susan, Sharon, and Jeff.

Charlie served in the Korean war as a member of the Army. He worked as a mechanic for Colonial Baking Company for 36 years. He and Lillian were active in Glen Echo Christian church where Charlie sang tenor in the choir. He enjoyed being a square dance caller, and he and Lil loved square dancing for several years. They also liked gardening, bowling, and camping with family and friends.

In 1987 he and Lillian retired on a small farm in Winterset where the family loved to gather and play, especially for "Charlie Hadden Fun Days." They enjoyed meeting up with friends in Texas during the winter months. The Haddens lived briefly at Lake Thunderhead, Missouri and then moved to Clear Lake, Iowa.

Charlie will be lovingly remembered as an honest, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had a witty sense of humor and was known for his words of wisdom and advice, "Charlie-isms."

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, both parents, and three brothers: Lee Caldwell, Thomas Hadden, Jr., and Richard Hadden. He is survived by his sister Mary Vasey; children: Donna (Dwight) Creger, IN; Susan (Sidney) Jacobson, Des Moines, IA; Sharon (Randy) Conrad, Clear Lake, IA; Jeffery (Tracy) Hadden, Westfield, IN, also nine grandchildren Cody Creger, Corie (Tim) Elkin, Rachel Jacobson, Noah (Ari) Jacobson, Jesse (Kim) Conrad, Cassie (Jon) Shear, Sam (Liz) Hadden, Joe Hadden, and Will Hadden, and nine great grandchildren.

There will be a private internment ceremony at Chapel Hills Gardens, followed by an open house for friends and family at the Ramada Tropics and Conference Center on Merle Hay Road from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017.

Memorials may be made to the , Des Moines, Iowa. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan-Carmel.
