Nathan Morgan was born in Columbianna County, Ohio, February 26th, 1830, and died in Stuart, Iowa, April 16th, 1923, aged 93 years, 1 month and 18 days. He is survived by a brother, Robert, who lives in Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Delia Woodman, who lives in Ames, Iowa, and a son, Oscar Morgan, who lives in Stuart, Iowa. There are also seven grandchildren. Two children, Ida and Jesse, and one grandchild, Nathan Morgan, preceded him in death, and his wife, who died here in Stuart in 1917.

Nathan Morgan was of the old pioneer stock that settled and developed the middle west. He emigrated to Illinois in 1853 and lived first in Knox county, near the Gale ranch, which afterward became the site of Galesburg.

He was married to Lois Slauson December 29th, 1853, at Galesburg, Illinois. He came to Iowa in 1859 and lived there one year, returned to Illinois for a time and finally came back to Iowa in 1882 and settled at Villisca. Later he moved to Madison county and in 1983 moved to Stuart where he lived until his death.

He had been in poor health for several years and had made his home with his son Oscar. In February of this year he began to fail and finally died of complications that come with old age.

The funeral was held from the Methodist church, he having been a member of that denomination for nearly seventy years. The services were held Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rob’t. W. Swick, and the body laid to rest in the Oak Grove cemetery. The pallbearers were Bert Chittick, Thos. Woof, E. Adamson, Adam Pote, Wm. Wright, Art Raber.
