Robert Dale "Bob" Jankovitz, 89, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, IA. Per Bob's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and private inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery.
Bob was born May 10, 1928, in Grand Island, NE, to Carl and Laura (Coon) Jankovitz. He was a sergeant in the Marine Corps during WWII and Korea. Bob married Arlene Johnston on April 15, 1950, in Lincoln, NE.
He worked as a Counselor and Coach at Hoover High School for 34 years, retiring in 2001. Bob was given the title of Expert Fisherman from Mepps Fishing Lures Company. He was a volunteer at Wildwood Hills Ranch, a camp for at-risk kids, where he and his son, Dale, started the fishing program that lasted for eleven years.
Bob is survived by his son, Robert D. "Dale" Jankovitz, Jr. of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his brother, Joseph C. Cash.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
