Wayne S. Scott, 61, of Creston, died Friday, October 20, 2017 at his home in Creston.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Mary O'Riley will officiate the service. Burial will be at South Oakland/Quincy Cemetery near Carbon. Military rites will be presented by Theodore J. Marten's VFW Post #1797 of Creston.

Wayne Steven Scott, son of Emma Frances (Agnew) Scott and Donald James Scott, was born on Feb. 29, 1956 in Corning, Iowa. He graduated from Corning High School in 1975.

Wayne worked for Cliff Greenfield and Richard Anderson in their tree service business in Corning, later doing tree service of his own. He worked years with Woodmark in Winterset. In 2006, Wayne began working with Gummi Bear Factory in Creston, now operated by Ferrara Candies, and has continued working there until now.

Wayne served 20 years in the National Guard, retiring in March of 2017.

Survivors include his two sons, Steven (with Tabitha) Scott and Jeremy Scott, both of Grand Island, Nebr.; a sister, Rose (husband Ray) Hilderbrand of Lenox; three brothers, David (wife Amy) Scott of Des Moines, Roy (wife Shala) Scott of Villisca and Larry Scott of Clearfield; 6 granddaughters and 1 great-grandchild.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.
