MRS. T. RILEY PHIPPS.

Centerville. – Mrs. Thomas Riley Phipps, 68, died today at 6:30 a. m. at her home on East Elm street. She had been in failing health for the last three months suffering from heart disease.

She was born near Winterset June 14, 1871. She was married to Thomas R. Phipps September 6, 1886. She came to Centerville 36 years ago from Gault, Mo.

Surviving are her husband; six daughters, Mrs. John Inman of Keokuk, Mrs. Roy Gilson of St Louis, Mrs Roy Gibson of St. Louis, Mrs. William McInnis of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. James McElderry of Centerville, Mrs. Merle Shirley of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. George Poljak of Numa; sons, J. V. Phipps of Centerville, Forrest of St. Joseph, Mo., Beryl of Rockford, Ill., and E. D. of Centerville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, son, four brothers and two sisters.

The body is at the Beckner funeral home.

MRS. RILEY PHIPPS TAKEN BY DEATH

Mrs. Riley Phipps, died at her home on East Elm street at 6:30 a. m. today at the age of 68 years, 11 months and two days. She became ill three months ago and was bedfast during the past week and a half.

Mrs. Phipps was born near Winterset, Iowa, in 1871 and was united in marriage to Thomas Riley Phipps in 1886. To this union twelve children were born, who are as follows:

Mrs. Bess Inman, of Keokuk, Iowa, Mrs. J. V. Phipps of this city, Mrs. E. D. Phipps, also of this city; Mrs. Neva Gibson of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Francis McInnes of Rockford Illinois; Mrs. Beryl Phipps, also of Rockford; Mr. Forrest Phipps, of St. Joseph, Missouri; Mrs. Naomi McElderry of this city; Mrs Lois Shirley, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mrs. Lola Poljak, of Numa.

Two children preceded the mother in death and were Iva, who died in infancy, and W. H., who died in 1928.

She was converted at an early age and was a member of the Holiness church. Funeral services will be announced later pending the arrival of relatives.

Mrs. Phipps Rites Will Be Saturday

The funeral will be held from the Church of God on Clark Street, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, in charge of Rev. R. J. Patterson of Kirksville, Missouri. The body will remain at the Phipps residence, 713 E. Elm, until time for the services. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
