February 27, 1938 - October 13, 2017

Marilyn Hodges, 79, of Winterset, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at Winterset Care Center North in Winterset, Iowa.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Thursday October 19, 2017 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset; family will be present to receive friends during this time. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Ochiltree Funeral Services. Memorials may be directed to Food Bank of Iowa.

Marilyn Hodges, daughter of John and Rose Mary McKinney Penick, was born February 27, 1938 in Lebanon, Missouri. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1956. In January of 1957, she married Howard Hodges at the Catholic Church in Winterset, Iowa.

Marilyn worked at Western International building lawn mowers and tractors for twenty-five years. She received her certification from Des Moines Area Community College.

Marilyn loved fishing, hunting, camping and competing at darts. She was an avid fan of her son’s stock car races. She enjoyed gardening and canning what she had raised in her garden.

She is survived by her husband, Howard of Winterset, five sons: Leonard (Vicky) Hodges of Prole, Iowa, Sam Hodges of Saylorville, Iowa, David (Ruby) Hodges of Des Moines, Iowa, Mark (Tracy) Hodges of Murray, Iowa, and Robert (Michelle) Hodges of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Sonya of Ft. Wayne, Texas; two sisters, Anne Lemon of Desoto, Iowa and Karen Fitzpatrick of Bayard, Iowa; three brothers, John Penick of Booneville, Iowa, Mike Penick of Maryland and Raymond Penick of Atlanta, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Greg Hodges; and two brothers, Leonard and Rodney Penick.
