Page 10, Column 7Ethel M. Bunce was born June 2, 1901 to Ves and Clara Moyers Fleming at Arbor Hill, Adair County, Iowa. She passed away October 21, 1988 at the Greenfield Manor in Greenfield, Iowa. She was 87 years old.
Ethel lived all her life in Adair County except for four months northwest of Winterset in Madison County. She married Hiland Bunce October 5, 1921 in Winterset, Iowa.
Ethel and Hiland operated a garage at Arbor Hill for a number of years. They had a band that played for many occasions in the area. She enjoyed playing the piano and playing cards with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Hiland.
She is survived by her brother, Albert Fleming and wife Golda of Menlo, Iowa; nieces, Phyllis Fleming of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Margaret Lawson and husband Ellis of Pleasant Valley, Missouri, Martha Hartman and husband George of Sara Sota, Florida, Helen Herr and husband Wilfred of Fontanelle, Iowa, and Doris Molln and husband Dale of Greenfield, Iowa; nephews, Col. Harry Fleming and wife Sue of Fort Lewis, Washington, and Donald Barnes and wife Kathryn of Carrollton, Missouri; sister-in-law, Gladys Bunce of Fontanelle, Iowa, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held October 23, 1988 at Greenfield United Methodist Church, Greenfield, Iowa with Rev. William E. Olmstead officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Alice Hogan and vocalists were Paul and Irma Bickford. Pallbearers were Leo Lane, Ellis Lawson, Donald Barnes, Dale Molln, Wilfred Herr and Gaylord Harris. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Fleming, Andy Fleming and Col. Harry Fleming. The floral committee was Mrs. Susie Chiles and Mrs. Edna Creswell. Interment was in Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, Iowa.
