CARRIE RUTH ARP

June 18, 1981 - July 10, 2017

Carrie Ruth Arp, 36, daughter of John & Deborah (Kunkle) Miller, was born June 18, 1981 in Guthrie Center, Iowa. She passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 in Panora, Iowa.

She grew up in Stuart and Earlham and enjoyed playing many sports where she excelled at everything she participated in. Carrie graduated from Earlham High School with the class of 1999. After graduation, Carrie continued her education and sports career at Iowa Central Community College where she grew her natural aptitude of softball and soccer claiming All American Honors. Her soccer career continued for one more year as she transferred to The University of Tennessee at Martin. Carrie decided on the career choice of Elementary Education, graduating from Upper Iowa University. She started her career at Panorama Elementary School as a dedicated Physical Education teacher. Carrie worked at Panorama Schools until 2012 and relocated to Waukee Schools, where she spread her love of physical fitness, strength, and athleticism to all of her adored students.

On October 18, 2003, Carrie was united in marriage to Shane Arp at the United Methodist Church in Stuart, Iowa. The couple made their home in Panora, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with four children; Layla Patricia (10), Tyson James (6), Hadley Grace (4), and Sawyer Jacob (3). She was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her children, sharing her love of athletics and especially adored teaching them how to swim. Carrie enjoyed all things athletic related and pushed herself to strive at many abilities including running numerous half marathons and one full-marathon. Carrie was a beloved member of the community and school system. Carrie will be missed by so many people that she connected with deeply.

Carrie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Don & Helen Miller; her father, John Miller; brother, Chad Miller; and nephew, Wyatt Miller.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Shane; children, Layla, Tyson, Hadley, and Sawyer; mother, Deborah Miller (Dennis Knoop) of Polk City; sister, Candee (Mike) Morrison of Ankeny; and their children, Peyton and Gavin; sister, Chasity (Chris) Klink of Ankeny; and their children, Justyn, Marcus, and Daryan; brother, Charles (Ashley) Miller of Dexter; and their children, Rhowen, Remi, and Riggins; niece, Lilly Miller of Truro; Grandparents, Don and Ethel Kunkle of Stuart; sister-in-law, Jill (Randy) Miller of Adair; and their child Libby; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with a tremendous amount of friends, co-workers, students, and community members that will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 2-5 P.M. at the Twigg Funeral Home, Panora, Iowa. Private family services will be held at a later date.
