Last Rites Monday for Mrs. Herman Wenger

Funeral services for Mrs. Iva Wenger were held Monday 2:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral home with Rev. O. E. Olson officiating. Jean Creager sang “Rock of Ages” and “Going Down the Valley.” She was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Paul Clausen. Mrs. Roy Evans was in charge of the flowers. Burial was in the Jackson cemetery near Pitzer. Casket bearers were: George Swertfager, George Peterson, Pearl Martin, Jack Moll, J. B. Hanner, and Press Atherton all of Des Moines.

Iva Louise, daughter of James and Della Williams, was born on a farm near Pitzer, January 3, 1916 and departed this life February 25, 1950 at Broadlawns hospital in Des Moines at the age of 34 years one month and 25 days.

Her early days were spent on the farm, where she enjoyed her school and playmates. She attended high school at Winterset.

In August 1943 she was united in marriage to Herman Wenger of Des Moines. For the past few years they have made their home at Ft. Des Moines. She was employed at New Monarch factory at the time of her death.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her husband, one daughter, Phyllis Rogers, by a former marriage, mother, Mrs. Della Williams of Dexter, half-sister, Bertha Weaver of San Diego, Calif., two brothers, John of Rockford, Ill. And Wayne of Dexter and Richard Paullin, a nephew who was raised in the Williams home. Her father, James Williams, a sister, Anna Mae Paullin and brother Kenneth preceded her in death. There are many other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her.

Iva, a friend ready to do what she could for anyone in need, her unselfish spirit and pleasant personality, will be a living memorial in the hearts and minds of her loved ones and friends.
