Barbara Butler of Ormond Beach, Fla., died Monday, June 26, 2017, at her residence while under home hospice care.

Inurnment is planned at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., where her cremains are to be placed in the same niche with those of her husband, Robert.

Barbara Ann Luth was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Winterset, Iowa, the daughter of Ora Anna Klingaman and William Henry Luth. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1956, the University of Iowa in 1960 (BA) and 1963 (MA). She married Robert Chester Butler May 26, 1962, in Iowa City. After Bob's retirement they resided in Tennessee where Barbara was very active in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. They moved to Ormond Beach, Fla., in 1988.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lt. Col. (U.S. Ret.) Robert Butler; and a niece, Sharon Furcone.

She is survived by her son, Robert Damon Butler; her brother, William C. (Betty) Luth of Mesa, Ariz.; niece, Linda Espinoza of San Diego, Calif.; and nephew, Robert W. Luth of Edmonton, Alberta.
