Her youthful days were spent at the home of her parents in the Bear Creek neighborhood near Dexter. She spent several years in school at Earlham after which she took up the profession of a public school teacher and taught many successful terms in the country where she was born.
In her school work she took great interest in each pupil under her care always endeavoring to impress upon all the beauties of nature and Gods loving care over all. She very much enjoyed teaching the children such songs as would help to make their school days cheerful and interesting. As she had by nature a kind and loving disposition she made many friends among those with whom she mingled.
She was united in marriage with David Earl Boggess, May 29th, 1904, to this union three children were born, Janice Elizabeth, Clayton Eli and David Jr. who passed away in infancy. For the past 11 years they made their home in Des Moines.
She was converted in young womanhood and lived a consistent Christian life, taking great pleasure in attending church and Sabbath school. For a number of years she was organist of the Bear Creek meeting and was always ready to do her part in the work of the church. She was a birthright member of Friends but after her marriage she united with the Methodist.
She had been a sufferer for seven months and for the last two months had been unable to leave her bed. During these months, and sometimes in much suffering she always manifested a cheerful Christian spirit, winning a large place in the hearts of her nurses and all those who were with her in her last days with us.
Besides husband and children her loss is mourned by her parents, one brother, five sisters and many friends.
The funeral was held at the Bear Creek church Sunday morning June 15 conducted by Rev. W. S. Kitch of Bangor, Iowa, assisted by Rev. Alvin Haskins of Bear Creek.
