Dale Black, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK

Dale A. Black passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 78. He was born February 5, 1938 in Winterset, Iowa to Maurice and Fern Black.

He lived and obtained his education in Iowa until he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp where he proudly served for three years. He was united in marriage to Penny Rowan on April 3, 1960. His employment with the Bell System transferred his family to several different states, ultimately to AT&T Headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey then to Denver, Colorado where he retired from U.S. West in 1988.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Shirley Jean Black, Delores Creger and Marvyl Letz. Dale was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend whose faith, positive attitude and sense of humor sustained him and all who knew him during his long period of illness. He definitely loved people and had a special talent of engaging everyone he encountered in conversation, telling a joke or making them smile.

He is survived by his wife, Penny; son, Jeffrey and wife Barbara; daughter, Joan Dillon and husband Jamie; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and numerous relatives and friends. Pursuant to Dale's request, arrangements have been made for a private family service.
