Virgil Harold Lundy, son of George Harold Lundy and Ethel Ruth (Segar) Lundy was born November 28, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at 79 years of age.
Virgil grew up in Des Moines and graduated from North High School. He then attended Simpson College and graduated with his bachelor's degree in accounting. Virgil served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960. He was proud to serve in the Navy and enjoyed his hospital and medical training he received.
Virgil was united in marriage to Doris Margaret Overland on June 22, 1963 at Huxley, IA and 4 children blessed this union. He worked as a accountant for many years at companies including ProCon and Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel. Virgil and Doris moved to Osceola in 1974, where Virgil built their home.
Virgil was a very active member of the Lions Club in Des Moines and Truro for over 40 years and was active with their youth exchange program and had served as a host home. He was also a member of the Sons of Norway. Virgil enjoyed bowling, playing golf and any activities with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a caring and hard working man. .
Those relatives who preceded Virgil in death were his parents, George and Ethel Lundy, daughter, Debora Herrera, grandson Adam Herrera and sister, Gerry Trader.
Virgil leaves to cherish his memory; loving wife Doris Lundy of Osceola, IA, daughter, Margaret Lundy of Osceola, IA, son, Robert (Raquel) Lundy of Osceola, son, David Lundy of Reno, NV, Grandchildren, Brandon (Rebecca) Lundy of Des Moines, IA, Kelsi Lundy of Truro, IA, Brooke Lundy of Afton, IA, Jenna Lundy of Osceola, IA, Aaron (Michelle) Herrera of TX, Aric (Mandy) Herrera of TX, Andrew (Krissy) Herrera of TX, Chris Herrera of TX and Amber Herrera of TX, Great-Grandchildren, Preslee, Ryder, Jett, and Kolton, sister, Diane Larson of San Diego, CA as well as other relatives and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to his family for a fitting tribute to be decided on at a later date.
