MRS. MARY WEDDINGTON

Death of Mrs. Mary Weddington at Lankershim, California

Mrs. Mary Weddington died at her home Wednesday evening, December 22d, at 9 o’clock. She was stricken with a severe cold a week ago, and on account of her failing health was unable to rally. On Wednesday morning she took a sudden change for the worse and kept gradually sinking and, at the time stated, she passed peacefully to her heavenly home.

Mary A. Rutledge was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, June 7, 1852. She went to Winterset, Iowa, with her parents in early childhood. Residing there until February, 1875, at which time and place she was married to W. C. Weddington, after which time they moved to Buena Vista county, Iowa where they resided until 1892, when they moved to California, and settled in Lankershim, their present home.

She is survived by her two sons, husband and Milo G. and Fred R. Weddington, who were at her bedside when the end came; she also leaves two grandchildren.

Mrs. Weddington was a woman of noble nature; she was quiet and unassuming. A kind and loving mother who will be greatly missed by those who had learned to love and respect her.

The funeral services were held at the home Friday at 1 o’clock. Rev. D. McCunn, of Los Angeles, officiating. A number of beautiful floral offerings were placed on the casket as tokens of affection and esteem.

A large concourse of friends and neighbors followed the remains to their last resting place in Hollywood cemetery, thus paying tribute of respect to the memory of the one departed. The sympathy of the community go out to the family in this their hour of deep affliction. – Lankershim Laconic
