Lois Jane Paxton

Lois Jane Paxton, the daughter of Lester Hunter and Effie Louise (Wilson) Steen, was born June 7, 1925, in Union County, Iowa. Lois graduated from Lorimor High School with the Class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Dillard Ivan Paxton on September 5, 1945, in Missouri. Four children were born to bless this union: Marcha, Marlene, Melinda, and Marchelle. Tony Chinnah would later join the family as a son. Lois worked for the Lorimor newspaper as a stenographer. She worked alongside her father, who owned “The Lorimorian”.

Lois was member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Fred N. Davis Lorimor Post #96, Lorimor and a member of the Salem Lutheran Church the last ten years. Previously, Lois was a member of the Lutheran Church in College Station, Texas, and Winterset, Iowa. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish Lois’s memory are daughters: Melinda (Lane) Siefkas, Peru, Iowa; Marchelle (Jim) Camp, Peru, Iowa; son: Tony Chinnah, Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren: Ben (Carri) Camp; Dan (Katia) Burdick; Rachelle (Vern) Cashman; Tony Siefkas; Chris (Sheila) Cox; Alice Paxton; 12 great-grandchildren; sons-in-law: Ron Cox, Des Moines, Iowa; Paul Burdick, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Preceding Lois in death were her parents; husband Dillard Paxton, November 2009; two brothers: Marion Steen and Gayle Steen (as an infant); great-grandson: Tyler Cashman; two daughters: Marcha Cox and Marlene Burdick.
