Van Meter

Merritt A. Caldwell, a former Van Meter resident, died quite suddenly of peritonitis at Ottawa, Illinois, last Sunday and his body was brought here Wednesday morning and the funeral was held at the Union Chapel United Brethren church Thursday afternoon at two o’clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. H. Hampshire. Interment was made in the Union Chapel cemetery by the side of his father and mother.
