Samuel Calvester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Handy, was born in Warren county, Iowa, August 12th, 1877. He spent the larger portion of his life in the vicinity of Patterson, from where he moved to Spencer eight years ago. After an illness of two years, he passed away March 31st, 1926, being 48 years, 6 months and 10 days old.

Mr. Handy was united in marriage March 21st, 1900, to Miss Alta Diggs of Winterset. To this union were born eight children: Mrs. Alma Perkins of Patterson, Mrs. Elsie Stroup of Spencer, Mrs. Edith Kephart of Ayrshire, John, James, Cora, Frank and Charles living at home.

Four brothers and one sister have preceded the deceased in death. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Handy of Rolfe, a brother, Russell of Rolfe, a brother, Joseph of Lusk, Wyo., a sister, Mrs. Sylvia Osborne of Pocahontas, the wife, children and three grandchildren. He will be missed as a companion and patient loyal father.

Funeral services were conducted from the home of Charles Crawford, Saturday afternoon with the pastor of the Methodist church in charge. Burial was made at Montpelier.
