Lanny Wenck

Lanny Wenck, 65, of Winterset, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Winterset Community Church in Winterset with Pastor Scott O’Conner and Pastor Jaysson Gurwell officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.

Lanny was born on September 19, 1951, at Lake City, Iowa to Herman and Mildred (Strunk) Wenck. He grew up near Peru and graduated from I-35 High School. He married Nicky Huntoon and to this union were born three children, Krissy, Brenda, and Tony. He moved to Winterset in 1980 and opened a motorcycle shop. In the mid 80’s Lanny opened his used auto dealership. On July 4, 1993 Lanny married Sandy LeCocq at his family farm in rural Winterset.

Lanny is survived by his mother, Mildred (Strunk) Wenck of Winterset; sons, Tony (Sara) Wenck of Winterset and RJ (Sarah) Wenck of Des Moines; daughters, Krissy (John) McDonald of Winterset, Brenda (Phil) Holt of Urbandale, Alexis (Billy) Conant of Waukee, and Ashley Temple of Grimes; sister, Ellen Bruett of Winterset; brother, Randy Wenck of Bevington; and seventeen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Wenck; wife, Sandy Wenck; and sister, Madelyn Kerns.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 PM at the Winterset Community Church with family receiving friends from 5 to 8 PM. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
