Byrd Williams, 62, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 14 at his home in Redfield.

The Williams family lived in Stuart for a number of years before moving to Redfield several years ago. While in Stuart Mr. Williams was in the trucking business, and also worked for the Farmers Elevator. At the time of his death he was employed at the west brickyard in Redfield.

Survivors include his wife Helen, three children, Mrs. Rilla Baker, Mrs. Arlene Woodson of Redfield, Byrd Williams, Jr. of Des Moines, three brothers, John of Dexter, Sherman and Clark of Stuart, two sisters, Golda Fleming of Menlo and Mary Wilson of Adel.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Thursday, at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church in Redfield with interment in the Penn Center cemetery.

Byrd Edward Williams, son of Edward and Lilla (Goldman) Williams was born March 11, 1909, in Madison county. He was raised in Adair county, Iowa and was married to Helen Mae Gantt, Feb. 9, 1935, at Greenfield, Iowa.

Mr. Williams lived most of his life in the Stuart vicinity where he was engaged in trucking over 25 years. He was a member of the Methodist church in Stuart and served 25 years on the Stuart volunteer fire department. After moving to Redfield, he was employed in the clay products plants.

Byrd Edward Williams passed away unexpectedly June 14, 1971. Surviving are his wife, Helen; son, Byrd of Des Moines; daughters, Mrs. Larry (Arline) Woodson, and Mrs. John (Rilla) Baker, both of Redfield. Surviving brothers are Sherman, Clark and John Williams; and sisters, Mary Wilson and Golda Fleming. There were eight grandchildren.

Services were conducted June 17 by Rev. John Latta in the Methodist Church. Assisting with flowers were Mrs. Sherman Williams and Mrs. John Williams.
