Friday, July 12, 1929Harry Hicks was born at Streeter, Illinois, December 24, 1882, and passed away at his home near Jefferson Center, Adair County, Iowa, July 1, 1929, at the age of 47 years, 5 months and 7 days.
He came West when about twelve years old.
On December 15, 1905 he was united in marriage to Lena Williams of Dedham, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Edith Bloomquist, Menlo, Iowa, Elma, Clifton and Leah Levon, who are still at home.
Aside from the one just mentioned he leaves to mourn his passing his mother and father, five brothers and three sisters.
He was converted and united with the church at Penn Center, Iowa, later transferring his membership to Jefferson Center when coming to this community.
The funeral services were held in the Penn Center church, July 3, 1929, conducted by his pastor, C. F. Hand, assisted by Rev. Corrie of Dexter, Iowa, and the body laid to rest in the Penn Center cemetery.
Those who attended the services from out of town were: Mrs. Mary Williams and son, Edward, of Dedham, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Hicks, Jefferson, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. George Hicks and son, Clifford, of Scranton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Hicks of Scranton; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jobegen of Storm Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Art Coppock and children of Dedham; Mr. C. R. Hicks, Dedham; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Oelson, Bueda, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Abhram and son, Erwin, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. John Kane of Boone and son, Edward.
