Page 1William Buske was born in Prussia, Germany, October 19, 1843. He died near Grimes, Iowa, January 29, 1922, his age being 78 years, 3 months and 10 days. When 24 years of age he emigrated to America, and settled in Madison county, Iowa. There he was married to Miss Sophia Wehrkamp. His wife and three of the nine children preceded him into eternity years ago.
In 1898 he was married again to Mrs. Samp, of Des Moines, who is still living in Oregon.
During the last few years, Mr. Buske made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kuehl near Grimes, and they as son and daughter made a comfortable home in his declining years. On January 22, he attended divine service in Grimes and about 5 o’clock in the afternoon he was stricken with apoplexy. After lingering for one week, most of the time in a state of coma, he peacefully passed away Sunday January 29, at 6:30 a.m.
He leaves to mourn, his widow, his children, Mrs. Amanda Aulich, of Grimes, Mrs. Hulda Kuehl, of Grimes, Mrs. Elsie Klages, of Oregon, Mrs. Martha Norman, Benjamin Buske and Gustav Buske, of Dicky county, North Dakota and 19 grandchildren.
His mortal remains were laid to rest at the Lutheran cemetery, Jefferson township, Rev. Schoenlein, of Grimes, conducting the services.
