Former Local Resident Dies

Mrs. Alice Conn Mozena, a resident of Madison county for 55 years, died Wednesday, May 5, at a hospital in Concord, Calif. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Mozena was a native of Van Meter, where she was born Feb. 25, 1895. She was a daughter of Samuel and Marietta Carhill Brewer. She was married in 1914 to Clifford C. Conn. His death occurred Dec. 26, 1952. In 1959 she was married in Des Moines to Earl D. Mozena, and he died in 1969.

Mrs. Mozena had been living with a daughter, Mrs. Edith Davis of Walnut Creek, Calif., when her death occurred.

She was a member of the Christian church.

In addition to her daughter, she leaves a step-son, Gene Mozena of Kansas City, Mo.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Catherine Clark of Billings, Mont.; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Arthur S. Brewer of Des Moines; and a sister, Mrs. Lettie Kommer of Andover, Ill.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
