Page 1CARL KELSO DIES VERY SUDDENLY
Was Pioneer Resident of Winterset and Well Known Throughout County
The sudden death of Carl Kelso, which took place at 10:30 this morning, was a profound shock to the community. While Mr. Kelso had been in poor health for some years, he was no worse than usual until a few hours before his death. Yesterday, he was down town, visiting with friends. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. A. Ramsey, where Mr. and Mrs. Kelso were staying while the Ramseys were taking a vacation at the lakes.
He was born in Illinois in 1843 and came with his parents to Winterset in 1852—71 years ago. In 1870, he entered land in Buena Vista county, afterwards engaging in business at Alta. In 1896 he returned to Winterset and was for some years extensively engaged in the real estate business.
His immediate relatives are his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Ramsey.
