MRS. ANNA PETERSEN DIED LAST FRIDAY

Scott Township Resident for 34 Years, Passes in Greene County

The body of Mrs. Anna E. Petersen, former resident of Scott township, who died last Friday at her home in Greene county, was brought to Winterset for burial in the cemetery here Monday. Brief committal services were held here in charge of the Rev. E. H. Widman, pastor of the Lutheran church at Ogden.

Mrs. Petersen had lived in Scott township of this county for 34 years, moving from here to Greene county in 1933. She was the former Anna Elizabeth Prehn, daughter of William and Margaret Prehn, and was born near Meldorf, Germany, on May 16, 1858. She was 83 years of age at the time of her death.

Mrs. Petersen came to America with her parents and brothers in 1881 and had since lived in town. In 1882 she was married to Andrew Petersen, whom she had met aboard ship enroute to this country. They lived in Crawford county and Des Moines before coming to Madison county in 1899.

She is survived by four sons and one daughter, William Adolph and Rudolph Petersen of Paton, and Mrs. Anna Doak of Paton, in addition to six grandchildren. Her husband died in 1936. One son, Peter, also preceded the mother in death, in 1923.

Funeral services were held from the Slinginger Chapel at Jefferson on Monday, in charge of Rev. Mr. Widman.
