Ida Jones, St. Charles

Ida Jones, of St. Charles, died Sept. 10 2016 at the age of 56, after a long battle with cancer. She was raised on a farm in Illinois by Anna and Arnold Henne until graduating from Kaneland High School, when she attended Coe College in Iowa. She moved to Des Moines and married Mark Jones in 1982. While there she worked at Stitch'n'Frame and as bookkeeper for The Gameshop. She moved to St. Charles in 2010.

Ida loved animals, particularly dogs, who were her constant companions from childhood throughout her life - Great Danes, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, a Boxer, and occasional mixed breeds. She bred and raised several litters of show quality dogs. Her dogs performed well in many show rings. She was active in the Des Moines Kennel Club and the Great Dane Club of Des Moines.

Ida also made lifelong friends in the Society for Creative Anachronism and Des Moines Science Fiction Society.

Ida took joy in cooking, experimenting with many recipes, and her muffins earned ribbons at the Iowa State Fair. She also enjoyed needlework, particularly counted cross stich.

There will be no formal funeral or memorial service.

Ida is survived by her loving husband, dogs, and cats.
