Obituary

Perry Lathrum, the fifth son and tenth child of Jesse and Isabell Lathrum, was born on a farm on Jones Creek in South township, Madison county, Iowa, on the 26th day of July 1868, and died at his home in St. Charles, Iowa, on the 21st day of August, 1928, at the age of 60 years and 25 days.

His parents were early pioneers of this county, coming from Indiana in the fall of 1854, settling in Scott township, and in a year or so, moved to a farm on Jones Creek, a few miles west of the present site of Hanley. On this farm and in a log cabin, the subject of this sketch was born and reared. His education was received in the country school, known as the Bridgeport school, and in this neighborhood he grew to manhood.

He was united in marriage to Miss Edith Hubbirt, of Hanley, Iowa, on the 4th day of July 1893, and immediately went to housekeeping on the old home farm, where he lived about eleven years, then four years on a farm near Truro, a short time in Hanley, then moving with his family to St. Charles about eighteen years ago, making it his home since that time.
