January 13, 1935Chester S. Osborn, seventy-nine years old, a retired farmer, died yesterday at his home at Halleck. Mr. Osborn was known as the only basket maker in Buchanan County and a feature story some time ago in the Gazette related to his work in the craft.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ada Osborn, Halleck; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha James and Mrs. Nancy Wall, St. Joseph, and Mrs. Della Ross, Faucett; three sons, C. H. Osborn, Waterloo, Iowa, D. S. Osborn, Faucett; and V. L. Osborn, St. Joseph, and a sister, Mrs. Ham Young, Winterset, Iowa.
The body is at the E. R. Sidenfaden’s mortuary.
________________________Transcriber's note: The deceased lived in Madison County in the 1870s and was married there in 1878.
