St. Charles

Mrs. Jeff Shutt, who was at the depot last Thursday waiting for the remains of her niece’s husband to be brought back from Missouri, dropped dead just as the train pulled in.

Her funeral was held last Sabbath at the Christian church.

She leaves a husband, six children, eleven grandchildren, one brother and one sister to mourn her loss.

Mrs. Jeff Shutt

St. Charles News: On last Thursday morning this community was shocked to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. Jeff Shutt. The body of David VanRossum was expected here on the morning train. Just befor e the train from the south came in, Mrs. Shutt suddenly grasped the arms of those standing near her and then sank to the ground. Drs. Anderson and I. K. Sayre were at the depot and she received immediate attention, but to no avail, for she died in a very few minutes. A cot was procured and the body was taken at once to the home.

Mr. and Mrs. Shutt formerly lived on a farm east of St. Charles. Some months ago they moved to St. Charles and since that time have resided on their property in the southeast part of town.

The funerals services were held at the Church of Christ Sunday at eleven o'clock, conducted by Rev. Baker assisted by Rev. W. W. Williams, and the body was laid to rest int he St. Charles cemetery.

The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved ones.
