Former Lorimor Resident Dies

Mrs. Ida Toland, a resident of the Lorimor community for half a century, died Monday, Dec. 1, at Glen Haven Nursing home in Glenwood. She was 83 years of age.

Mrs. Toland was the former Ida Dougherty, daughter of James H. and Stella Dougherty. She was born near Massena on April 25, 1886. She was married at Massena on Dec. 25, 1907, to Owen Toland. His death occurred Dec. 23, 1945.

She was a member of Venus chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and the Royal Neighbor lodge.

Surviving are a daughter, Doris Toland who teaches in Council Bluffs, and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Barry and Mrs. Fred Cunningham of Creston, and Edna Dougherty of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Thursday from the Watts-Soll Funeral home in Lorimor, conducted by the Rev. Don Arthur, pastor of the Council Bluffs Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
