Genive Rose King, 89, of Prole, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 30, at 11:51 AM at the private residence of friends in Winterset, Iowa. Unity Point Hospice ministered to her there.
Mrs. King served with her husband in pastoral ministry in the Iowa-Missouri Conference of Seventh-day Adventists until George retired in 1989. They loved working together in the churches food distribution ministry, the Seventh-day Adventist Church Van Ministry, as well as in teaching ESL classes whenever they had opportunity. Genive still served in the food distribution until 2013 and served in the Des Moines Adventist Elementary School teaching ESL students until Spring of 2015.
The funeral will be conducted on 2 PM Friday, September 2 at the Winterset Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Dean Coridan will be officiating. The burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Madison County.
Genive was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John and Rosa Byer. She married George King of Marceline, MO in 1948 in Red Wing, MN. He preceded her in death in December 2009. Her sisters, Dolores Byer and Ruth Jones, survive, as do Niece Carol Jones and Great-Nieces Kristina Pastor and Rebecca Goni with their families. Her sister, Dorothy, also preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Winterset Seventh-day Adventist Church, 903 W. Summit/ 50273, for Van Ministries or Worthy Students.
McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset is in charge of arrangements.
