Elza Hathaway, a resident of Hanley, took his own life at his home there Thursday morning by shooting himself. He was a middle aged man and his son had been staying in the home with him for several weeks. No motive is known for the deed other than that he had been in poor health for some time. He is survived by a family of several children.

Rev. Oosterhoff conducted funeral services for Elza Hathaway last Saturday afternoon at the U. P. church, and burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
