James L. Jeffs, 73, lifetime resident of Madison county died suddenly at his home Sunday, Dec. 13 of a heart attack. He and his son were doing the morning chores at the barn when the fatal attack occurred. Mr. Jeffs was born May 16, 1886 at Clearfield, Iowa and spent his entire life in Iowa. He was a farmer.

Besides his wife, Delia, two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Ricketts of Afton and Mrs. Kenneth Pritchard of West Plains, Missouri and three sons, Alfred at home, Harold of Sioux City, Iowa and Kenneth of Pond, Missouri survive besides 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, December 16 at the Watts-Soll funeral home with Rev. Don Frank officiating. Burial was made in Clark cemetery.
