Wednesday, March 27, 1946Charles E. Jones, 72, of Indianola, a resident of the Patterson community, about 35 years ago, died in Indianola Sunday, March 17th after a brief illness, following a heart attack and a stroke.
He was born in Indiana, Sept. 27, 1873, and in his early youth came to Iowa with his parents, who settled at Cumming. He was married to Lucy Alice McCuen in 1895.
During Mr. Jones’ residence in Indianola, he served as town marshall, custodian of the public schools, and in recent years was employed at the heating plant at Simpson college. He was a member of the Woodman and the I.O.O.F. lodges.
The deceased is survived by his widow and the four children: Ralph Jones of Des Moines, Mrs. Mildred Pappas of Cedar Rapids, Paul Jones of Joliet, Ill., and Mrs. Kathryn Bedford of Burlington.
Burial was made in the Indianola cemetery.
