Mrs. Elizabeth Rogan, of Douglas township, died Monday night. She was the widow of James Rogan, Sr., who died a few years ago, and the mother of James Rogan, Jr., John Rogan, Mrs. Matthew Vaughan, Mrs. Chas. Allgeyer, and Mrs. M. J. Smith, who died several years ago.

The family came to this county from Illinois in the fall of 1859, and settled upon the land which was ever since the family homestead, where by hard labor, in which every member of the family cheerfully participated, they soon made a comfortable home where they found but brush and prairie grass. The family came originally from Scotland, where the older children were born, but the younger ones, we believe, were born in Illinois. Mrs. Rogan was a zealous Catholic, and loyally devoted to her church.

The funeral occurred Tuesday, the interment being in that part of the Stringtown cemetery that has been set apart and consecrated as a Catholic burying ground.
