Fay Catterlin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Catterlin, died Monday evening between 9 and 10 o’clock of inflammatory croup, after an illness of only a few days. He was a bright, intelligent little fellow and his death following that of his little brother scarcely two weeks ago brings a heavy infliction on the sorrowing parents. Fay would have been seven years old in April. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon.

On Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, 1890, little John, aged 1 year, 4 months, son of John and Nannie J. Catterlin, died, and on Monday evening, Jan. 12, 1891, Fay was called to the little brother. Although his little life was only six years and nine months, it had filled its mission—he wanted “to go to Jesus and little brother John”—only called two weeks sooner; so manly and pure, so brave and patient. What an angel name the name Fay seemed to those who saw the little white casket put away in the last earthly house lined in white but not so pure as the little one left to rest there.

Did not their Heavenly Father, too, love our darlings so dearly that he took them to himself in their sweet, pure innocence before they would ever know of sorrow in sin? But surely in his loving tenderness he will not chide us that in blinding tears and crushed bleeding hearts and untold agony we murmur “Thy will be done.”

Every where our tear-dimmed eyes turn, there is something to remind us of our little ones. Can we not believe that our little brown and golden curly heads are now standing at the windows of Heaven waiting and watching for papa to come, while their sweet childish voices that once made such music in our new lonely home are calling to each one of their loved ones to come and live with them in that bright summer land?

Heaven now seems more bright and glorious because it is the home of our darling boys while a loving Saviour seems now more tender and endearing because in his strong sheltering arms he holds our little John and Fay.
