Mr. and Mrs. O. N. Archer accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Weed of Orient and Mrs. D. M. Travis of Peru to New Virginia Saturday to attend funeral services for Kay Read, 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Read.

Kay Reed, Aged 12, Shot Himself Last Wednesday Afternoon
Word came to relatives here on Wednesday afternoon that Kay Read, 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Read of New Virginia had shot himself with a .22 rifle. He was found in a room by his nine year old sister. No motive is known for the deed other than he had seemed depressed for some time. The lad was a grandson of Mrs. Mabel Smith of this place. He is survived by his parents, and two sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at New Virginia.
