Booneville – Lee

EARL PIERCE DIED AT HIS HOME HERE LAST THURSDAY

Funeral services were held at the U. B. church in Van Meter Sunday for Earl Pierce. Burial was made at the Chapel cemetery south of Booneville. Mr. Pierce had lived all his life here and had been ill for several months before having an operation at a Des Moines hospital two weeks ago. He had been returned to his home, where he passed away Thursday.

Earl Roy Pierce, son of Alfred and Addy Pierce was born July 25th, 1888 on a farm in Madison County, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Van Meter November 6, 1952 at the age of 54 years, 3 months and 11 days.

He was united in marriage to Nellie Wright on January 13th, 1913 in Des Moines, Iowa, and to this union eleven children were born.

For the past nine years he had been employed at Solar Aircraft in Des Moines.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Nell, 4 daughters, Vivian Rhodes of Van Meter; Wanda Bainter and Ruth Pierce of Rockford, Ill.; Janice at home and six sons, Roy of Van Meter; Alfred of Rockford, Ill.; Harold of Des Moines; Jim of Van Meter; Herbert of the United States Navy and Bruce at home, one brother, M. A. Pierce and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Shoultz of Des Moines, 14 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. One infant son preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Union Chapel church which he joined in his boyhood.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 9th at 2:30 p.m., at the Evangelical U.B. church with Rev. William Suckow and Rev. Aldreth Weigel conducting the service. Mr. Robert Fisher was soloist and was accompanied by Mrs. A. G. Felter at the organ. Casket bearers were Floyd Switzer, Max Gutshall, Fred Fritz, John England, Charley Hazen and Earl Norman. Burial was at the Chapel cemetery.
