Page 1, Column 7William J. Iiams, former Macksburg business man, died Monday, October 25, in the Clarinda State hospital at the age of 79 years. Funeral services were held at the Macksburg Methodist church on Thursday, October 28, at 2:30 pm. Rev. Edgar Thompson and Rev. J. E. Englund officiated. Interment was made in the Moon cemetery under the direction of the Watts funeral service.
William J. Iiams, son of Michael and Costilla Iiams was born near Barney, Madison county, Iowa, May 27, 1864. He was married to Laura Jane Garrett of Prairie Grove, Iowa in 1890. Two children were born: one son, Bradie Marion, died in infancy. Mrs. Iiams preceded him in death May 23, 1925. Mr. Iiams later married Mrs. Jennie Cross of Macksburg who preceded him in death about five years ago. Mr. Iiams owned and operated a store in Macksburg for eighteen years.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lula Kirkland of Macksburg; three brothers, Frank of Osceola, Robert of Winterset, and Arthur of Murray; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Kirk of Murray, Mrs. Della Dick of Winterset, and Mrs. Eunice King of Englewood, Colorado.
