NONA THOMPSON, Bevington, Ia

Nona Jean Thompson, age 68, of Bevington, IA, died at her home on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, surrounded & supported by her loving family.

Nona was born June 27, 1947 in Des Moines, IA to Doyle LeRoy & Lois Jean (Hanawalt) Miller, graduating from Des Moines Technical High School in 1965. She married Douglas Devon Thompson in Des Moines, February 26, 1966.

Nona & Doug owned Thompson Acoustical Ceilings while raising their 5 children. She was community minded, being involved with the Democratic Central Committee and the Warren County Zoning Commission. Her distractions included spoiling her grandchildren, anything "Coca-Cola", traveling, reading mysteries, shopping & gifting, ceramics, and especially crocheting.

Survivors include her husband Douglas; daughters Nicole (Richard) Bunch, Denyse Thompson, and son Shane (Rebecca) Thompson all of Bevington. Daughter Christine (Jon) Klingaman of Cloquet, MN, and son Douglas 'Zeb' Thompson of Carlisle, IA. Grandchildren: John Bunch, Sarah Bunch, Chloe Klingaman, Zach Bunch, and Jacob Klingaman. Sisters Pamela Miller of Sacramento, CA and Donna Miller of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Kevin Miller.

Memorials may be directed to The Ronald McDonald House.

Funeral services will be held at Dunn's Chapel, Des Moines, at Noon on Sunday, June 12, 2016. Visitation will begin Saturday, 5 to 7pm, with family present. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date. -
