MRS. MARGARET TRAVIS SERVICES AT TRURO

Mrs. Margaret Slinker Travis, a well known resident of the Truro community most of her life, died Sunday, May 22, at a hospital in Newton. She was 83 years of age.

Mrs. Travis is survived by a son, Guy Slinker of Lorimor; and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Fisher of San Pablo, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Ferguson of Monroe; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. this Wednesday from the Truro Methodist church with burial in Hartman cemetery.

A number from here attended the funeral of Mrs. Margaret Travis who passed away at the Newton hospital Sunday morning and the funeral was held at the Methodist church in Truro Wednesday, May 25th and burial in the Hartman cemetery south of Truro.

Truro Funeral for Mrs. M. S. Travis

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church in Truro Wednesday for Margaret Slinker Travis, 83, who died Sunday at the Skiff Hospital in Newton.

Rev. James Nicholson and A. R. Weed will officiate at the 2:00 p.m. funeral, conducted by the Kale Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Hartman cemetery at Truro.

Mrs. Travis was born April 18, 1883 at Truro, the daughter of Princeton W. and Edwina Wiggins Scott. She was educated in the Madison county Public schools and was a housewife and restaurant operator at Peru. She lived her entire life in Madison county.

In 1900 Mrs. Travis married Amos Vincent Slinker at Truro. She married Derwin Travis at Tingley in 1945.

She was a member of the Eastern Star number 479 and of the Truro Methodist church.

Surviving relatives include a son, Guy Slinker of Lorimor; two daughters: Mary Fisher of San Pablo, Calif., and Ruth Ferguson of Monroe, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Frank Scott of Truro and two sisters, Gertrude Weed of Orient and Edith Reed of Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and two sons, Donald and Lloyd.
