Carol Poore, Creston, Iowa

Carol Poore, 64, of Creston, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 34 and 25 in Creston. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate.

Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at Quincy, north of Corning.

Open visitation will be 2-7:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are to the family.

Carol Ann Poore was born April 6, 1951 in Creston to Chester Dean Ross and Wanda Radene (Wilkie). She graduated from Creston High School.

Carol was united in marriage to Gary Saville in Corning and moved to Big Springs, TX, where he was stationed. They later divorced. 

In 1986, she was united in marriage to Houston James Poore in Creston. She worked for Easy Heat Wirecraft and Lazy Ike in Corning, and then attended SWCC, where she received her Associates of Arts degree before attending the SWCC Nursing program, where she received her LPN license. She did nursing in the Afton, Winterset and Des Moines area for 33 years before retiring in 2015.

Carol's passion was her belief in the Lord and she witnessed to everyone she could. Her son and grandsons were the light of her life. Carol was so happy that Austin has found his partner, Shanny. 

Carol is survived by her son Austin Poore (significant other Shannon Deaton) of Osceola; two grandchildren, Kohen and Konlin Poore; one sister, Deb Ross of Johnston; one brother, Rick (wife Loraine) Ross of Des Moines; one sister-in-law, Victoria Ross of Johnston and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Mitzi Wanda in infancy, one sister Karen Ross and one brother Gary Ross.
