Chas. Hayden and sister, Mrs. J. E. Walker were called to Peru, Tuesday, by the illness of their sister, Mrs. Sarah Brokaw.

Mrs. Sarah Brokaw died at her home in Truro, Sunday morning, after an illness of two days.

Miss Vernie Conard and brother of Lorimor, were called here on Monday, by the death of their grandmother Mrs. Brokaw.

Obituary

Sarah Jane Brokaw was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, September 17, 1840, and died at her home in Truro, June 12, 1910. She came to Iowa with her parents when 13 years old and lived with them on a farm a short distance north of Truro. In 1858, she was married to Milton Parker. To this union six children were born, all of whom survive her. They are Julia M., of Lucas county, John A. of Graham county, Kans., William B. of Botus county, N. D. Dollie E. of Alberta, Canada, Minda M. of Indianola, and Martha E. of Botus county N. D. After she was married they lived near St. Charles, until 1866 when they removed to Morgan county, Kans., where her husband died April 7, 1870.

She then returned to Iowa and in February, 1879 was married to Frank Brokaw and lived at Liberty Center, where he died in 1882. She moved to New Virginia in 1891, where she lived till 1903, then moving to Truro, where she remained till her death.

She united with the Christian church in her youth and has always been a good faithful, christian. She leaves to mourn her loss, two sons and four daughters, two sisters and a brother, besides a number of grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. K. Corkill at the M. E. church, June 15th at 11 a.m., after which the body was laid to rest in the Young cemetery.

Transcriber's notes: Maiden name from Madison County Marriage Records. There is no "Morgan County, Kansas". One of the daughters claims on her marriage record to be born in Montgomery County, Kansas. "Botus County, N. D." should be Bottineau County.
