Long-Time Resident Here Succumbs at Clarinda Hospital
Mrs. Ellen Hench, long-time resident of Madison county, died at the state hospital in Clarinda Monday, August 4, at the age of 79 years.
Mrs. Hench was the daughter of Marion and Mary Hazen, and was born at Shellsburg, Feb. 29, 1868.
Her husband, Daniel M. Hench, died in 1943, and she leaves no relatives in this community. Nearest surviving relatives are nieces and nephews, and three step-daughters, Berniece Cummins of Corydon, and Grace and Mae Swanburg both of Sutherland.
Funeral services were held here Friday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. G. L. Hufstader, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
