WILLIS LEE SALSBURY, JR., Des Moines, Iowa

Willis Lee Salsbury, Jr., 82, passed away at his home Monday, April 25, 2016.

Willis was born September 27, 1933 in Patterson, Iowa to Willis Sr. and Edna (Stover) Salsbury. He retired from Armstrong Tire Company, where he worked as a tire builder for 33 years. Following retirement, Willis worked as the chief inspector for the Warren Water District for 15 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish, especially in Minnesota. He was a member of the Central Iowa Anglers.

Willis is survived by his children, Willis III (Twila) Salsbury and Peggy (Roger) Crabbs; grandchildren, Wendy (Ryan) Bales, Annie (DeKarlo) Long and Amanda (Scott)Christensen; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Destiny, Amara and Owen; step great grandchildren, Peyton, Karleigh, Karstyn, Kamryn and Spencer;siblings, Jack and James Salsbury and Mary Lee (Tim) Woods; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen Mae; daughter Susan Kay Salsbury; and his parents.

A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 016 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Willis will be laid to rest following visitation at Montpelier Cemetery in Patterson, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
