Peru Happenings

James Alva Smith was born May 4, 1895, at Baxter, and departed this life Oct. 8, 1947, at the age of 52 years 6 months and 4 days, at the home of his mother, Mrs. J. B. Call of St. Charles, after an illness of about four years.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War I. He was preceded in death by an infant sister and his father. He is survived by his mother and step father and cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Kale funeral home, in Truro, conducted by Rev. J. D. Stevens, of Peru. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
