Sarah Evelyn Falconer, the daughter of Ralph Lowell and Eva Pearl (Alexander) Rundlett, was born on August 29, 1921 in Lenox, Iowa. Sarah entered eternal rest on March 19, 2016, at Country House Residence in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of ninety-four years, six months and nineteen days.
Sarah was raised in Lenox and graduated from Lenox High School with the Class of 1939. Sarah received her Normal Training Teaching Certificate and taught Country School in Taylor County, Iowa for several years prior to her marriage. On March 10, 1944, she married Ray William Falconer in Creston. Sarah and Ray lived in Creston until they moved to a farm near Afton in 1977.
Sarah helped Ray in their Pronto Pup Stand and they also operated the Sinclair Station in Creston at the corner of Highway 34 and Elm Street. Sarah and Ray owned and operated the Stringtown Cafe and Service Station. Sarah then went to work as a Machinist at Gits Manufacturing for thirty-five years, and later she worked a short time at Heat Tech in Afton.
Sarah was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She did hand embroidery, loved to play Bingo in Creston, Lenox and Winterset, and she also liked playing cards and games. Sarah enjoyed gambling because she was very lucky at the game of chance. Sarah was very proud of her daughters and she enjoyed following all her grandsons’ sports activities.
Left to cherish Sarah’s memory are her daughters: Carol (John) Knorr, Bennet, NE; and Barbara (Larry) Butler, Kearney, NE; Six Grandsons: Andrew Butler, Hastings, NE; Robert “Bobby” Butler, Omaha, NE; Michael (Deborah) Knorr, Douglas, NE; Mark Knorr, Douglas, NE; Matthew (Heidi) Knorr, Lincoln, NE; and Monty (Debbie) Knorr, Panama, NE; Twelve Great-Grandchildren; Four sisters-in-law: Hilda Rundlett, Lenox, IA; Donna Rundlett, Omaha, NE; Lois Hardisty, Afton, IA; and Alice Bowers, Creston, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Sarah in death was her husband, Ray Falconer on March 17, 2000; her parents; her Three brothers: Harold, Lester, and Glenn Rundlett; Two brothers-in-law: Russell Hardisty and Orvin Bowers. Sarah was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jonathon Michael Knorr; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Ida Falconer.
