DORINE NASLUND, Winterset

Dorine Naslund, 92, formerly of Stratford, Iowa, passed away at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation in Winterset on Thursday evening, Jan. 28, 2016, where she had been a resident for several months. 

Dorine was born on March 1, 1923, southeast of Stratford to Carl G. and Ellen (Oliv) Carlson. She attended country school and was a graduate of Stanhope High School. 

On March 22, 1941, she married Reuben A. Naslund and they lived a mile north of Stratford on their farm. Dorine liked to garden and grow beautiful flowers, especially iris and roses, and would occasionally drive the tractor when needed. She and Reuben enjoyed fishing in Minnesota for many years. Many hours were spent scrapbooking, organizing pictures and keeping the family records. 

Dorine was a lifelong member of the Stratford Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, was involved in Ladies Aide and later enjoyed making quilts for missions. 

Her parents; husband Reuben in 1984; sisters Eloise Johnson, Eileen McAnally and Helen Edson; brothers Marvin Carlson and DeWayne Carlson; son-in-law Art Robey; and great-granddaughter, Lily Hobbs; preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Robey of Waukee; three grandsons, Matthew Robey of Mesa, Ariz., Marty Robey of Des Moines and Mark Robey; one granddaughter, Joyce Howland of Winterset; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Robey of Florida, Christopher Howland of Orlando, Fla., Michael Howland of Cedar Falls and Haleigh Hobbs of Altoona; one sister, Lila Adams of rural Boone; as well as many nieces and nephews and relatives in Sweden. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. at the Stratford Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stratford, Iowa with Pastor Joe Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford. 

Visitations will be at the Stratford Evangelical Lutheran Church on Sunday evening, Feb. 7, from 6-8 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Friends may continue to call on Monday morning at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. 

In memory of Dorine, memorials may be directed to the family for distribution at a later date.
