Evelyn Walker, Stuart

Evelyn Frances Thomas Walker, 94, of Stuart, formerly of Earlham passed away peacefully on January 25, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 17, 1921 to Ralph and Florence Hunter. She grew up in Remson, Iowa. After high school, Evelyn proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Evelyn and her husband Russell lived in New York City before moving back to Des Moines to raise a family. Together they owned Walker Draperies in Valley Junction.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Tom (Deb) Walker, Pete (Wendy) Walker; grandchildren, Allissa (Jerrod) Johnson, Kelcy Walker and James Hacker, Jessica (Jeremy) Jones, Ryan Walker; great-grandchildren, Mya, Tucker, and Miles and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Logan Thomas; second husband, Russell Walker; brothers, Don, William, and Russell Hunter and their spouses.

There are no services planned at this time. A burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date in Remson, Iowa.
