Jerry Dean Lehmer

Jerry Lehmer was born on April 1, 1940 to Louis A. Lehmer and Eula W. Lehmer, and passed away at Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa on January 3, 2016.

Jerry was born in Maryville, Missouri, and spent much of his childhood on a farm in Peru, Iowa. Jerry attended Truro High School, and was in the United States Army for 3 years.

Jerry returned from the army to the Des Moines area, and after traveling extensively for both the army and for work, settled again in Peru. He purchased a small acreage which was his pride and joy. He enjoyed saying he owned 3 tractors, one for each acre of land.

Jerry worked in facilities and mechanical engineering, and was a maintenance and repair person for years. No matter what he was doing, he was always working with his hands.

He was always eager to lend a helping hand to family and friends. His favorite hobbies included gardening, playing chess, fixing and "modifying" things, and morel mushroom hunting.

Jerry is survived by 2 sons: Larry Dean of Des Moines, Iowa and Gary Dean (Lisa) of Norwalk, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Lou (Barb), and 3 sisters, Linda, Virginia (Bruce), and Gwen.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Frances, Delores, Tom, Rita, Glen, Alberta, and Roy.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Peru, Iowa.
